The Fogcutters have been electrifying audiences in the United States with a brand new take on what a “big band” is and can be. This 19-piece band is rooted in the spirit and in great admiration of traditional big band jazz pioneers by pushing the limits. Band members hail from a wide variety of musical backgrounds, The Fogcutters balance subtlety and power by playing their own unique blend of funk, rock, afro-cuban, hip hop and combining them with traditional sounds. With 13 horns, burnin’ 5-piece rhythm section and the lush, moving vocals of Megan Jo Wilson and Chas Lester, the groove is infectious and unlike any other. In addition to performing all-original music and constantly evolving arrangements, the band boasts a suite of prolific composers and arrangers, making for an ever-expanding repertoire of music spanning eras. The Fogcutters have been working on their first studio album, after a series of live CDs, which is expected to be released in 2014.
